Make a lasting impression

This week, the primary school children in the local area all spent a day in their new secondary schools, getting to know the teachers and some of their new classmates.

One child bought a fabulous cookie for the teacher – what a way to make an impact! The teacher was so impressed he posted it on the school’s Instagram account. And it struck me what a sure-fire way to be remembered. When that child turns up in September, there will probably be a few “where’s my cookie?” jokes, but they have already made an impact and stood out from the other keen new students.

Could this translate to the business world?

I’m not suggesting you turn up to every meeting armed with a giant cookie … but perhaps there is a way that you can make your mark, and ensure that the people you meet remember you.

Whether it’s a sales meeting, a presentation, or an interview, what will help you stand out from the crowd and be memorable?

It could be the outfit you choose. Some female politicians have been famous for their shoes. Some male ones for their hairstyles.

BUT … it shouldn’t be too tacky or over the top. It needs to be relevant and appropriate.

If you have any real-life examples, I’d love to hear them! You can post them on my facebook page
