Inject some energy for greater success!

Have you ever seen those people that stand at the side of the road holding a large advertising sign? (For some reason it is often for a golf sale.)

There have been a couple of guys standing by a local roundabout for a few weeks, advertising pizzas. Pizza delivery companies have a pretty diverse target audience, so standing by the road with a big sign near a town is not a bad strategy but it’s pretty hit and miss. At first I didn’t take much notice, apart from being aware that they were there. But after a few days they started wearing fancy dress – one was dressed as superman which made me smile as I drove by.

But the time they really caught my attention was when they started waving at cars as they went past. There was something very charming about that and I couldn’t stop myself waving back and I noticed others doing the same. All of a sudden, they had managed to do that magical thing … engaged with their audience.

It’s a pretty boring job, standing by the side of the road. But by tackling it head on and having a bit of fun in the process they managed to bring that little advertising campaign alive and draw much more attention to it. Well done superman!

What could you do to make your marketing more energetic and enjoyable?
